This is my first PC build and before this I was a SCREAMER. AN XBOX SCREAMER. Glad those days are long gone.

Anyway, the build process itself was actually pretty smooth. No major hiccups or anything, except for a couple stripped screws on the case fans. But I'm wondering why those CPU temps are so hot. I'm thinking maybe thermal compound problem or silicon lottery problem. Will have benchmarks later.

UPDATES

Update #1: Made sure the pin was down correctly and it lowered temps by ~5* or so. Thinking about getting some new thermal compound or maybe a new CPU cooler. (10/30/17)

Update #2: Now I'm seeing load temps at ~93*C. I still think I should get some Arctic MX-4. (10/31/17)

Update #3: Returned the old processor w/ fan because one of the fan pins got bent during shipping. Now my temps fave finally gone down! (11/8/17)

Decent CPU, knocked 1 star off because of high temps, but other than that it has good performance in game.

I LOVE this motherboard. The UEFI BIOS is super easy to navigate, and the aesthetics of it all, including the white LED's, just go together with the build nicely.

Memory

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2400 CL16 Memory

White RAM, fast RAM, no issues RAM, pretty good!

Video Card

MSI GTX 1050 2G OC GeForce GTX 1050 2 GB Video Card

Gets me the fps I need for a good price, since I'm more into e-sports. However I realize I could've gotten a 1050Ti.

Wonderful case to build in, and looks fantastic! The stock fans look nice and do their job without being too loud.

Did you make sure that the stockfan's thermal compound is making full contact to the processor? If there's even a slight gap of no contact between the thermal compound from the CPU Cooler between the processor, you may see high temperatures due to error of installation. Even though I do see the stockfan installed, sometimes one side or even just one corner of it might be a little off. If you try to reinstall the stockfan first and test the temps through HWMontior to see where the temps are at again, checking for improvement then you may have nailed the problem easily.

I'm not sure about the MOBO, and I would be extremely confused if this motherboard had a "high voltage" to the CPU by default, which I don't think it would. It doesn't hurt to double check, but is the vCore (voltage of the CPU) normally 0.9v~1.1v range? Which that is OK if so. CPU-Z can help for checking the voltage of the CPU and you can check your BIOS to see where it's set as by default or just see what the min. and max range is.

Or... do you live in a hot/humid environment? I know it can effect temperatures too, but I haven't seen a Pentium before at 56° C idle and 99° C underload temps. Even in a very hot room...

It would be odd if this was another reason to cause this much effect of very high temps, but it can be a part of it. Sometimes thermal compound can get "dry" / "crusty" and needs to be cleaned off (along with the CPU) and apply something like Arctic MX-2 or MX-4.

Or worse case scenario is replacing the stockfan with a Rosewill - RCX-Z775-LP or Cryorig's M9i, but this would be the last thing to do if nothing else is improved. And if that doesn't solve the high temps, it's the extremely worse case scenario and may need to return it through your seller ASAP if the time hasn't expired to return or RMA through your warranty.

Regardless, you do have a good starter build and should be satisfactory for the time being with the games you play for now. Question: what hard drive do you have in there? Looks like a 2.5" HDD, yet I'm not quite sure what it is. Leftover from a laptop or just had it available already?

Also forgot to mention that that is a 2.5" left over from a laptop that is incredibly loud and slow, but it works!

Aha, thanks for the response! Yes, if it works then it makes sense to reuse it. It's good to repurpose parts that do work versus throwing them away.

Good build! from the looks of it, the bottom left thing on the cpu cooler isn't down all the way. could explain the temps. :)

"The bottom left pin of the CPU cooler isn't down all the way." Is what you meant, but yes it's a common human error for CPU cooler installations. I've done my fair share of doing the same, but I usually catch them before POST or powering ON the computer and seeing the temperatures from the BIOS or sometimes HWMonitor.
