We didn't delete any guides. We did however change it so that the guides list currently only shows staff guides. You can find out more about that here: http://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/156056-changes-to-the-build-guides-index

The bulk of our spam and abuse comes via VPNs. The majority of IP ranges are merely comment-banned - where you can still access the site but not post comments or topics. However in some cases we've had abusive traffic that impacted performance for legitimate users, and in those cases we did a full IP ban.

If you want to boycott another company, that's fine. But there's no need to carry it as a banner everywhere the products are mentioned in the forums. Let people decide for themselves.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "fan bearing filter?"

We opted not to do a fan bearing filter because there are some... generous descriptions? It is hard on some to distill down the over-the-top marketing descriptions to make them consistent enough that a filter would have value.

Student licenses aren't for resale and typically include additional restrictions.

MSDN copies are not sold, they are licensed. You are bound to the terms of the license, which in the case of MSDN do not allow resale. So yes, it would be illegal.

Just curious, what would an autosave buy you that a history doesn't? Do you need it to survive cookie clearing?

We have a part list history that goes back considerably further, but clearing cookies wipes it out. Does that help?

No, I deleted your comment because that's a common troll post. I stand by the deletion, and I will not apologize for that.

There is verifiable proof in my reply that my recommendation was solely based on personal preference and not on the argument that those twos units work better together because they are the same brand.

That's not what your comment said. You recommended the two together, and my response was a gentle reminder that the recommendation was either a troll or misplaced and inaccurate given the part list.

If you can't accept this, I recommend you find another community to participate in.

If you fully understand the reason, why were you still pushing the OCD angle?

The comment stays deleted. Given the part list, at best it was poor advice. At worst, it was a troll. Given that you're arguing with me 10 deep in this thread and you've been registered on this site all of a day, I have to hold off judgement on whether you're still trolling or not.

I was addressing the original comment, and in no way is it an attack on you or your disorder. Like I said before, we see troll comments along the same lines often, hence the deletion. It had nothing to do with OCD.

Yes, I did read it before I deleted it. Your comment was:

I would always recommend going with an AMD video card if you are running a AMD processor.

Going back to my previous reply - there is no advantage to going with an AMD GPU when using an AMD CPU unless you are using an APU with hybrid crossfire. Even then the benefit is marginal these days.

You may not realize it, but we do have a fair number of people who troll with comments like that - that AMD CPUs need to be paired with AMD GPUs, are only compatible with each other, or offer some sort of non-APU performance benefit. None of which are true. We see it a lot, and thus my deletion of the comment and the "don't troll" comment.

It appeared you were trolling. For future reference, there is no advantage to brand affinity between the CPU and GPU, particularly with that CPU. There could be an argument made with hybrid-crossfire situations with APUs that can pair with GPUs, but today that's becoming less relevant.

Legonate wasn't saying to downvote trolls, but rather that downvoting trolls are everywhere. He wasn't asking you to downvote "trolls". At least that's the most favorable interpretation I can make of your response. Otherwise, your downvote is in spite.

I can see it will never be worth the effort again.

Look, there's no need to argue every nuance. You're welcome to participate in the community, but not everyone has to agree on what downvoting is supposed to mean. It means different things to different people, and staff step in when we feel it is being abused.

lol. Power sure is a fickle issue isn't it.

But lets be clear - be respectful of people here. Comments like that won't be tolerated long. Manirelli was fair with you and did consider your feedback. He (and I) just didn't agree with it.
