https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NBF8q4 Here is the BUild under $1300, While time lasts, and i think that it still looks fine but you get to keep the 2070

Yes you could but I would recommend cutting out some of the athletics instead to save the extra $100, because i think that the performance difference is worth it between the 2070 and the 1070.

If you are only gaming then something like this, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gLpf4q Would be a lot better and you could easy get the price down under 1300 if you didn't care as much bout aesthetics. however I wouldn't recommend only having 250gb of ssd in your system that isn't a lot.

change your ram sticks to the correct position, put another of the same fans from up top on the AIO cooler for the GPU, fix the color scheme to black and one other color( I would recommend orange), get the fan cables and other small wires routed to the side and around the mobo tray.

Yes the nzxt mobo has an integration, but I would atoll go for an Asus board simply because of the long-term support and experience

I would stay away from nzxt’s mobo. Simply because of its high price and lack of features due to nzxts lack of market share and experience. As Overclocking motherboards go Asus is where to stay. A good Maximus hero or z270e gaming would do you great

You should look into swapping that b250 mobo for a z170 or z270 one, so that you could overclock that bad boy. Also, how did you get a 1080 ti with only 1 8-pin power cable?

  • 1 point

Thx for the info! If SLI doesn't work sometimes and you might have to go back to just one 1080 then even if voltas performance gains over the 1080 aren't as good as SLI I think Volta might be the better option just for less trouble, less heat output and not having to buy a new power supply. I guess pricing will be the final decider.

I have a 7700k and a single gtx 1080. I am wondering the performance gains you get with a second 1080? I am either going to get another 1080 when the prices come down or sell the 1080 and upgrade to Volta. What would you do?

I guess you will get your full boost clock speeds at all time which I don't think could be said for the intel stock cooler.

I read your edit and that would totally make sense. The only downside is that if you wanted to upgrade the CPU down the line you might have to ditch that good mobo because Intel is not likely to support lga1151 for a lot longer which really sucks! Parts aside the build looks really clean and well put together. It's definitely the way I would have done it, going the extra mile for custom cables, color matching components and good lighting ascetics on what looks like a fixed budget.

If he really needed a cool CPU he should have just got a CPU with a low TDP, and if he wanted a performance bump with a liquid CPU cooler he should have paid the extra $50 and got the 8600k. I know that budget b360 boards are not out yet but because you need to get a $100 plus overclockable mobo it doesn't make sense to get a locked CPU.

It might have been better to go for EKWB's all aluminum water cooling kit instead of 2 240mm rads if you wanted full system water cooling. Also, the 8400 with a z370mobo and a liquid cooler is a little bit pointless the 8600k could easy get 5GHz with your setup.

Oh yeah you have 2 500 GB ssds. I have only used 400gb of my hard drive and 100 of my ssd so I don’t really need a lot of space. Well it’s sad that my iPad has a higher refresh rate than my overlooked monitor. While 4K looks great whenever I use my friends 144hz my 72 look so bad.

Ya almost 4tb is a little overkill lol. Yeah I’m going to take the back part of my PSU cover off like you did. I also had my eye on that monitor but went with 4K because I’m stupid. Although for my first build I think I came out very well, you have a really refined erosion of what mine can be in a couple years.
