Workhorse for me 7+ years. Outdated at the time of this review but real world performance is still good.

My old boot drive from 2016. It still runs like a champ after all of these years, but you can definitely find better NVMEs out there nowadays.

Gets the job done. Probably look to adding a 2TB drive in the near future. Games are getting way too large.

Slight update, died about 2 weeks after posting this build. Lasted almost exactly 5 years. I suspect one of the memory chips popped as the drive would occasionally show up in the BIOS after a full shutdown.

Replaced with a 2TB Sabrent drive, which had the highest advertised durability and a 5 year warranty.

from completed build El cheapo 2017 evolved

Used it as a primary Windows partition (that windows is using for paging file). Still after 3 years of intense use HWinfo showing 98% health. For my less frequently used 50 Gb drive it's still 100% after 3 years. Thing is fast and long lasting!

This is my favorite part of the build. This drive is freaking fast and I'm seeing 2 second boot times. I likely wouldn't go 1TB again, but the tech is fantastic. Was easy to install and no SATA to organize.

At the time I bought this, $340 was actually a fantastic price -- definitely a little salty with how much SSD prices have dropped. This thing is super fast and has very high endurance, which is comforting. They cost more than comparable drives nowadays, but I've never heard of a Samsung drive going bad versus seeing multiple reports of ADATA, HP, etc drives failing., After adding in a 1TB SSD for my game library, I really don't need a full 1TB -- I'd like to change it out for a 500GB EVO 970, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to transfer my OS over when I don't have any more open M.2 slots and the M.2 USB adapters only seem to support SATA...

Very fast (hard to tell how much faster vs an SSD though), love not needing any cables, and the OS installed onto it without any complaints.

from completed build I7-8086k Thermaltake Core P3

Its crazy fast, and it's Samsung. Nuff said. Only reason i give it 4/5 is because for some reason its more expensive that the 970 Evo which makes no sense. The 970 dropped in price days after I got this and now Im salty.
