Hello everyone, I have completed my gaming pc build but when you put everything into a parts list for yourself the one thing that I’m not sure if I need or not is an OPTICAL DRIVE do I need this or not in my gaming pc build if so what is a good one that I should get with a $1500 pc build with 400w used so far. Thanks!

Hi, if u need to WRITE CDs for some reason or use CDs to install some strange application then u need an optical drive, otherwise u can do without it. Every single component driver can be downloaded from manufacturer website and you can install the OS from a USB key, that's also faster. Games can be downloaded too... I'll sugest you to not put the optical drive if you have to buy a new one. in the worst case you can add it later or buy a USB optical drive.

Their no need for those drives anymore. Buy windows on a USB stick. Or you can download the ISO to a thumb drive.
