That sounds like an important quote or something...almost sounds like it belongs in one of those "Inspirational Quotes" lists out there.

The thing is, I created it myself.

When I grow up I want to be an editor or a weatherperson, where else can you get it wrong and still have a job?

  • 1 point

Yeah, I know, right? Weathermen get paid pretty darn good money to be wrong almost every day too...

Years ago when I worked for the Navy I knew a senior chief that was a meteorologist. If he said it, that was what happened. I've never seen another person predict weather so well. But he'd been doing it for like twenty some years, so maybe the weather paid attention when he was doing the brief.

As for editors, I'm constantly cringing at the way some people just let something obvious go.

Seems like even digital word processors can't keep it straight either, from what I've heard.

Last year in my English class, our teacher gave us a brief passage that we were intended to correct for stuff like grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc., and at the bottom she left a note that said that Word couldn't detect anything wrong with it.

Granted I think Word's correction code is fairly basic, but it was still mind-blowing.

Didn't know about legal issues, but I can see that happening.
