They are mining built cards so only have DVI and do not support Freesync because they lack HDMI or Display Port.

but they're still $100. for those on a really low budget, they far outperform, say, a GT 1030 or Vega 8/11 integrated graphics

Yup just reminding people so they don't fall into the trap of false advertising as they list it as supporting but it lacks any of the needed outputs.

Kinda surprised nobody has tried to sue Amazon or Newegg over that yet.

wow, they listed that?? dafuq.

Yup in both the overview and specifications.

Gigabytes and PowerColors versions also do as well.

most budget 1080p monitors have DVI anyways, and the ones that don't but have HDMI will be fine because you can get a simple adapter

Gilroar 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Adaptors and AMD cards don't play nice.

eesti 1 point 4 months ago

all you need is a simple passive adapter, i don't think there would be any issues

Gilroar 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

You need active adaptors for the newer AMD and NVidia cards, passive cause issues with stuttering and low frame rates.

Edit: And even then you are limited to the resolution and refresh rates available by the only port on the card.

Really a case of the buyer needs to beware because they are not getting a full Polaris card these are very limited in what they are capable of.

Tech Yes City just did a review of one of the same series cards and had to flash the BIOS on the card so it would be recognized by drivers.

Something to watch out for as well.

It was an ex-mined card.

Miners tend to flash their mining bios to improve that efficiency for mining

Im pretty sure the card doesn't come in that bios.

Gilroar 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Miners haven't been doing that very much with the current generations its easier and safer just to adjust the power limits since you don't risk a bricked card from a bad flash and the card keeps its resale value that way.

Edit: Besides we already know they are not running the correct BIOS since it is a current production so its using a 570 silicon with a 470 BIOS to avoid the pre-factory overclocking.

Granddy 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

He literally stated in the description that it had a mining bios.

Gilroar 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Manufacturers have also been shipping cards with mining specific BIOS's.

Remember this isn't a retail card this is OEM and no retail warranty or support from Sapphire or AMD.

Granddy 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Until you have evidence that this card specifically has a mining bios shipped away (couldn't find any info so far about this card having a mining bios shipped already and the reviews don't tell any issues about using it for either gaming or mining) then the card is practically just a rx 470 with less features.

would this perform like a standard rx 470
