Effective immediately, user-run giveaways and contests are no longer allowed on this site.
Could we hold PCPP gaming tournaments? Like unofficial ones online with teamspeak and/or discord.
That would be cool. You should suggest that in offtopic or site additions.
There is nothing stopping you from doing a gaming tournament online. If you get 9 people from the PCPP forums or discord, you could have a 5v5 game.
Is this because of Duffman's giveaway??
That was the last user-run giveaway that I can remember.
What was that?
A user pledged he would give away 500+ in gift cards and PC components. He was going to draw numbers out of a hat and I don't believe he did.
I talked to him. He had some important stuff ( I won't give details for privacy) going on and he was planning to do it. I believe that he would have done it with more time.
Yeah, did he never pull through?
He sent me a monitor as the winner of one of the giveaway
Did you receive it?
He sent it, and he sent a tracking number so I can track it. It's coming now.
What is the weight on it?
He did pull through and he was planning to pull through on his Newegg $300 gift card as well, I think.
His account and posts got deleted I believe.
Yeah, it did
Definitely. Although understandable that he had some stuff going on, not pulling through in a timely manner just puts a bad rep out for any future giveaways. Should've prepared more.
I got the monitor
Oh, I know. I said not pulling through in a timely manner :)
Yeah, sounds good.
It's offical: DuffmanDuffs was banned. His account wasn't deleted by him.
I asked and got this result
To protect our users from abuse and fraud primarily. But also to protect our users from people who don't follow through in a timely manner.
What about just plain text giveaways? As in you post a game key and encode it somehow so people have to work a bit to get it. If they can figure it out they can simply get the key, no depending on the OP to give you the key.
Who is this duffman, what did he do and why am i only hearing about this now?
He posted a bunch of giveaways of money and expensive parts, where users had to do riddles in order to receive parts. He didn't follow through on some of them.
Agreed, its to protect the site. Plain and simple.
