The PCPartPicker awards

Update 3:

Mini update below straw poll :)

I've decided to make a straw poll to actually see if there's interest. You guys can share this anywhere if you like, and I'm going to see how high the votes get to see if there is actual interest. Turnip counts as yes BTW :P

Here is straw poll: http://strawpoll.me/6754294

Mini Update Need more yes and turnip votes! I understand that not many people would be seeing this particular thread, so share a link to this thread anywhere where it would make sense!

Update 2:

Ryan is awesome! Got staff approval from him and now this can truly continue! More suggestions, and more feedback. Once again, keep in mind that this might not actually happen, but I hope to make it happen. But still, the more interest, the better.

Update 1:

Before this actually goes anywhere, I would like to ask the staff of they are cool with this idea. If there are any problems with this, or if it would be better being run by staff, I would gladly not do it. After all, this is their website .

This is kind of just a check to see if there would be interest for an annual or biannual (probably not quarterly) award for people who have significantly contributed or helped out on PCPP. There are still some things I would have to think about such as a prize.

The system I'm currently thinking about would be where you can nominate anybody but yourself, as long as you give a reason why they should be nominated. There also might be certain requirements or rules. Once all the nominations are in, not including fake nominations, the first round will begin. The top five choices will go to the final round, and the top choice will be the winner

Does anyone have any suggestions or things they disagree with? Is anyone even interested in this?

Sounds like a cool idea to me.

Sounds good. But there should be a limit to the amount of nominations per round. There shouldn't be 100 nominations..... That's too much.

  • 1 point

That's a good idea. How many nominations do you think there should be?

  • 1 point

Probably 20-30 so that way there aren't too much or too little.

Good idea, I'm down for that. Prizes can be tubes of thermal paste or something.

That or the more expensive option of a Pentium G3258. If this idea works really well, then maybe a manufacturer can provide a motherboard but probably not.

OVER 9000 comment karma.

  • 1 point

what is comment karma exactly?

  • 3 points

Hahaha, let's say you click on my profile the top left statistic is comment karma, and it means how many of your posts have been upvoted/downvoted overall. Mine is bad because I have opinions that do not please everyone, nor do I have a joke in every comment I post :)

Psst... you have almost my comment karma and not even half my comments.

  • 1 point

It's how many upvotes you have, minus how many downvotes you have

  • 1 point

When someone upvotes ore downvotes your comments. It's those little arrows you see under comments. The total count of your upvotes/downvotes is your karma.

Gotta get approved by staff first.

OMG I has a great idea for a prize. You know how staff get a staff badge thing next to their name? The winner should get a badge thing next to their name saying '2016 PCPP Award Winner' or something like that :D

sounds like a cool idea. I think a good idea for voting is that only people who have had their accounts registered for a while before the contest could vote, so that there isn't all of the fake accounts being made or whatever like were seeing now in the MSI contest.

Yeah, I could get a bunch of crappy DOA Pentium 4s or something and write something like 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for different things.

Why not Pentium Pro, 2, 3 instead? :P
