It's like clockwork. Every year around Christmas our moderation load jumps significantly. We end up banning users at a much higher rate for behavior that grossly violates our guidelines. Some people come in and think they can be jerks - that won't fly here.
We banned a user a couple days ago for private messaging build services along with picture from builds they supposedly did. Only some of those pictures were from other peoples' builds, not theirs. Insta-ban. People who spam a few people on our site get a warning. People who spam a bunch get banned. People who fraudulently try to mislead our users get a ban and me shaking my fist in the air.
Other things that will warrant an insta-ban:
- Registering an account, then jumping out with hate speech or racial slurs right out of the gate.
- Registering an account, then immediately insulting others.
- Trying to scam users (via selling items, obvious scams on $$$ for build advice, etc).
- Submitting fake builds with pictures taken from other builds (often prominent/famous) on other sites.
