Description

got the parts as they come on sale starting when i got the evga power supply last October. Finally got to build it 2 days ago and got it to post on first try.

waiting on gtx 970 (looking at either evga ftw acx 2.0 or asus strix) prices to settle down a bit so i can sli them or a single 2x 295x for hopefully sub-600 :)

when i get to that, i will probably update the cabling for a cleaner look.

note: benq monitor, logitech 710+ kb and g430 headphones carried over from previous set-up.

edit: no longer going for nvidia coz of their 3.5gb issue on the 970. shame on nvidia

Get the asus strix over the evga. Evga tries to rip you off by not including a backplate and trying to charge you an extra 20 bucks for one. Plus the asus strix is cheaper. Awesome heat sink btw. Also how'd you get the devil's canyon i7 for that price?

thanks!

i got the cpu from TD last year at a good discount with coupons and combined with BofA cash back.

also, i changed my mind about the 970 because of it's 3.5gb issue. it's devious at the least and unbecoming for such a big company. will never support and patronize such a company.

Nice build, I really like it. It makes me happy because I am about to set up my new build with this same card, and just happened to order 3 of the same cougar vortex fans. The orange is a bit different from the two but who cares, it's a nice touch.

it actually blends well and i hope you'll be happy with both the card and fans, as i am very much satisfied with them myself.

So would a r9 295x2 definitely fit in this case without any issues?

i dont foresee any issue as this case can accommodate longer cards than that of the r9 290x (up to 400mm accdg to specs), specially if you're going water cooling on your cpu.

Are you able to fit 2 more sticks of the "G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133" ram in? As I heard the "be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing" is quiet big and restricts the use of some ram.

definitely YES! there is no clearance problem with the ram. it fits perfectly even with the default setting of the included fans.

i was actually tempted to put in 4 sticks in there during the build process but i saw no need as 16gb, in itself, is overkill already for my needs and that im trying to control my budget for this build to around $1k only :)

be forewarned though, that you have to put in the ram sticks first before setting this 'be quiet' cooler. it also goes to show that if you initially install 2 sticks, you will have to remove the cooler before you can add 2 more, then re-install the cooler.

I ended up buying it in the end and I thought why not, so I put 32gb ram in my PC lol. :)

Hey, just wanted to say you build is very informative! I'm switching over to this cooler and this is perfect for me making sure it works with my RAM and motherboard!

Wow this is a good case. Small but feature-rich. Always love Fractal Design cases.
