Description

Hey guys, welcome. This is the second gaming PC I've built. I figure every 2 years is a good time to start new. I am mainly gaming but this one I plan on doing Photoshop and some video editing as well. Most of the parts were bought from Newegg.com besides the motherboard/processor combo from Microcenter. My monitor is BEAUTIFUL and overclocked to 96hz with no color loss (buy it). Named after the Grateful Dead song "Lazy Lightnin" just thought It was a good fit. Hope you enjoy the view, and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks

Despite the larger size, it is SATA II and only has 32 gb of cache.

i have no idea why you didnt get a gtx 970, not only i it better in gamming but also helps out alot more in video editing than the r9 290x

I personally would buy a 290x over a 970 for a few reasons. First and foremost because I wouldn't want to support a company like Nvidia and all their BS business practices. Second the benchmarks are very close and lastly the 290x you can get under $300.

Hey there. At 1440p they've almost identical benchmarks. By the time I am video editing there will actually be sli 980's or a single 980ti in here.

I've experienced both the 290x and 970 and the 970 just seems to have a more stable fps and never got hot, which means it less stressful for your psu and components overall.

I would agree with you on both counts. It just came down to this card being cheaper when I bought it. 280$ after rebate, and purchased before the 980 ti was relased furthur lowering the 970 price.

Definitely gaming. Mainly Photoshop on the editing side as well, with plans of only minor video work in the future.

Awesome build. One question, I'm planning to get two cougar fans and put them in the top of my case (Noctua ones are too expensive). Do they work good enough? I want silent and good performance fans.

Hey there, thanks for compliment on my build. These are some high quality fans, I can say that. Very close to the Noctua's but half the price. They work great as well, moving plenty of air while staying almost silent. I'd recommend them over any other fan for the price [:
