Description

I had been planning to do a huge upgrade to my old PC a while back, but never thought I'd make a completely new build like this. All I really had in mind was an i7 6700k or 7700k, gtx 1080, and one of those fancy cases with a side window..

I ended up buying the graphics card first and then spent forever deciding which processor to buy. Ryzen 7 release was just around the corner at that time and there were ALOT of reviews and videos about the new AMD line. It caught my attention and I gave in with the mindset of.. 8cores/16threads > 4cores/8threads at the same price.. First time using AMD so it was a little strange having the pins on the processor. I've also taken the CPU cooler off with this still stuck on the heatsink.. That was kind of scary.

Anyway with that decided on, I spent another forever on which case to buy. After browsing through a bunch of windowed cases with plastic and glass side panels, I found myself at a standstill between the S340 elite and InWin 303. Initially the S340 won me over due to it's ease of cable management and minimalistic design, but the layout on the InWin was so unique and sleek that I just had to go with it. 3 bottom fans and 1 rear fan are intakes and top three are exhausts.

At this point i realized that I'm so over my budget that I might as well build a completely new PC.. Bought ML Pros to go on the bottom and went with the NZXT Aer rgb for the top three. Mandatory new motherboard and ram (previously LGA1150), m.2 SSD, and decent looking cable extensions. Later on I'd like to cover the stickers on the intake fans.

So there it is..Finally finished and way more than I will ever need. Extremely happy with the aesthetics and power.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

I absolutely love this AIO cooler. It's beautiful with the mirror on the cpu block and is very quiet. The CAM software isn't as buggy as I've read. The wires are ugly..

Motherboard

Great for the price. No problems booting up for the first time. BIOS is kind of slow and overclocking is kind of buggy (overrides voltage alot). Fan controller in the BIOS is easy to use.

Red light always on because Ryzen 7 has no iGPU..

Memory

Cannot get 3000 yet. Hopefully soon with bios updates. Am4

Storage

Had this for a while now. Never had any problems.

Video Card

This card is a beast. There's faint coil whining going on ,but barely audible through fans and headphones. Pump always runs at 100% and it's really loud.

Case

I love this case! It's so pretty! Cable management was kind of a pain because there's not too much room in the back besides the space by the top fans. Not much room at the bottom too. Can't use my front usb 3.0. Get motherboard with usb 3.0 header on the side.

Case Fan

Very easy to set up and it was easy to hide the cables. CAM software kind of laggy but it's also easy to use.

Monitor

Looks great and matches perfectly with the 1440p counterpart.

Monitor

Great monitor. Color isn't great at first and will need to be calibrated. 0 dead pixels and no backlight bleeding. I checked the back and its from batch A00.

  2. What speed is your RAM running at? Any issues?

Thanks

Sorry im planning to save the cooler. I'm just a hoarder and think everything's useful..

Its running at 2666. I couldnt get it to go any higher. Good thing is the bios updates are working. Prior to the most recent update I couldn't get past 2400.

Hey thanks dude. It took me a little while to decide between these or the thermaltake riings. But I'm glad to have gone this route they're perfect.

Your temps are actually lower than what you're reading. Both the Ryzen 7 1800x and 1700x have a 20o C temperature offset. So, If you confused why your CPU is running warming than expected, that's why.

Just google, Ryzen 7 1700x 20 degree celsius higher. Should help explains things better.

EDIT: Woops, for some reason I read 1700X, not 1700. My bad. Carry on.

Are you able to turn off the LED track on the motherboard through the BIOS or MSI Gaming App?

i just bought this mobo, does it have LEDS? i haven't built my pc yet because im waiting on parts. also, what colour are the LEDS?

Yes I has 5 LEDs. All of them are indicators for cpu/ram/gpu etc. Not for aesthetics. I personally hated them and covered them with black tape.

Hey I have the x52 as well and I'm waiting to install and put it in my ryzen build....I'm waiting on nzxt to get back to me on the am4 mounting support. How long did you have to wait??

Took 1 and a half months to get mine. I ended up ordering from corsair 5 weeks after ordering the nzxt one and the corsair one still came 2 days earlier.

What speeds are running the ram at and what did you have to toggle to get that? I am thinking of that same set.

Jesus man! Beast of a rig with all around perfect part choices. But I would have just gone with an ultrawide monitor instead of spending so much on two.(bad for fps games) Otherwise 10/10 IGN

How's having a TN Panel Screen and an IPS Screen side by side look?

  • 1 point

I guess it's okay. I don't really notice any major color/quality difference. The only thing that really bugs me is shifting windows from 1440p to 1080p.
