Description

This was the dream build i always wanted, I will be a junior in high school, started working in November of 2017 to pay for this setup myself. My previous "setup" was a $200 refurbished HP Pavilion i got on ebay, it was a 6th gen core i5 with 128gb of storage, 4gb of ram, and was set up on my family's dinning table. Hope you guys like it!

(I know the desk and cables on the desk are bad XD unfortunately my state doesn't have a IKEA so I'm waiting for my local furniture store to have a desk that matches my set up)

Nice set up. Grab yourself a monitor stand. I have a similar monitor set up (the PG279Q is amazing) and I was shocked at the amount of space I gained back using a monitor stand.

Also if you're wanting IKEA furniture Amazon now ships their products.

Looks good! Love the Vengeance Pro ram. +1

I bought backplates from jmmods, he's a great guy and has awesome pricing, WAY better than v1tech. He can also do custom plates for a reasonable price. They're made of acrylic with a matte white finish

Did you buy the custom parts from partpicker, or did you buy them from the other websites?

i bought the backplates from jmmods.com the cables and aio tube sleeves are from cablemods

Hmm, does partpicker buy from the website and give it to you?

no you buy directly from jmmods with paypal and he will ship them to you, just like buying anything from amazon. He is a nice guys and even gave me 2 ssd plates for the price of 1 because i just needed blank plates.

Great build man, digging the colour scheme!

I built in the same case, what did you think about the wire management room in the back?

  • 1 point

i feel like its ok. a lot of youtubers hype it up too much its great but its not the best cause the main routing channel isnt deep enough for me to put my 24 pin. The Velcro straps are a lot better than the plastic clips though. Also i was luckily to not have any hdds so i removed the hdd tray in the basement and it gave me a lot more space to put the extra cable length. If you do have a hdd it will be harder to hide the extra cable length, i also think there should be more room between the back panel and the cables. Overall its good, 7/10

  • 1 point

Yeah I have a hdd so in just had the space that was there. The very little space anyways lol

I know the desk and cables on the desk are bad XD

As far as the cables on your desk I have seen much much worse so don't beat yourself up over it. Your build is super clean so we can see you are at least making a good effort in that field.

My previous "setup" was a $200 refurbished HP Pavilion i got on ebay,

That is not a bad price for that kind of laptop, would be great for being a daily driver for office work, media playback (like youtube+netflix) and general web browsing. This new PC build looks to be a monster. Unlocked i7+top end gpu+1440p high refresh rate display, the trifecta in gaming experience.

If you are looking for a name for this build how about call it "White Lightning"? A super fast white themed build!lol

How about the temps ? Will they get too hot ? The airflow seems to be a little bit restricted...

temps are normal, there is ventilation on the other side and bottom of the case for front fans

Quick question from a newb here. Those white plates over the GPU and SSDs - Did they come with the case? It really gives it a clean look in the finish. I purchased a GTX 1080 recently and it did not come with any plates like that.

Are you able to explain to a newb what the fan controller is for? I love the white lighting and the white hose sleeve. Did you get those from Jmmods also?

I am currently working on a build myself and I am modeling it off of this. I want to be upfront because I don’t want to be accused of it later, so just FYI; I love the look of this build and I want one just like it!

  • 1 point

sorry for late reply thanks for the kind words and i got the white tube sleeves from cablemod

A fan controller is just that, it controls the speed of your fans. They normally take 4 pin PWM connectors (which most fans now a days have) the one i have is also takes older 3 pin connectors. A fan controller allows you to control the speed of all your fans with one software and you can have custom fan curves, presets, and rpm.

and yeah feel free to base your build off of Alpine (Alpine is the name i went with). Just give me some credit when sharing it with people ;) and i would love to see pictures when youre done!!

  • 1 point

Hey FilthyCasual,

Thank you for the reply! I am currently in the process of building the rig now! Very exciting! I still need to order the fan controller and some custom fans so that I can get that sleek white look that you have on Alpine. I am getting there though!

Thank you again for the reply and I will definitely be giving you credit when I post my final build!!

  • 1 point

Thats one clean asf build! I plan on making the same PC in the same case, minus a few changes. How easy was it to install stuff in the H500? Did you have any troubles with the Corsair H115i PRO?

  • 2 points

Thank! Its a really tight fit, I first i thought it wasnt going to fit but i moved the fan wires to side and was able to get it in.

  • 1 point

Thanks, one more question if you don't mind, what are the CPU and GPU temps like? It's a small case with only a few fans

  • 1 point

40-48c on cpu and 55-low/mid 70c on gpu temps are pretty normal, i also have my fan profiles set to quiet

  • 1 point

Sorry to add to this question - are the fans on the radiator set up as Push or Pull fans?

  • 1 point

no no i love questions lol the fans are pull

  • 1 point

Just a question. Why did you put Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub if you already had the commander pro in your part list?

//

Also is the fan on top the 140mm one or the 120mm one?

Thanks!

  • 1 point

it is a 140mm

you need a Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub to control/power the rgb lights the LL fans have 2 4 pin connectors on them, one for power and rpm control, and one solely for rgb. the power connector goes directly to a fan header on the command pro, the rgb connector HAS to go to Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub and then the connector coming off of the Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub connects to the commander pro

heres the order: fan power cable>fan header on commander pro rgb cable>Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub>rgb controller on commander pro

hope this helped, and sorry for the slow response

  • 1 point

Does the 140mm not clear on the back side?

  • 1 point

the back only offers support for a 120mm the top is a 140 or 120mm but i barley got a 140mm in it

  • 1 point

Hey man! Looks really nice! I am a junior too and working towards a computer myself! (Epic op in my lists) are the LL fans worth it?

  • 1 point

They are worth it for the aesthetics. In my opinion they are the best rgb fans. In terms of performance, they prefrom like any other fan. They are pretty quiet though. So if it’s aesthetics you care about, they are worth it. If you care about performance, they’re fans that preformed better for a lower price.

  • 1 point

Did you use the ML fans for the radiator? I'm looking at getting LL140's for my system but since they don't have great airflow I'm wondering if I should just get different RGB fans, but the LL's are so pretty...

  • 1 point

yes i used the ML fans on the rad. I honestly think the LL and ML have basically the same airflow, ML is just slight better. If i had to pick between the two i would go with LL cause the look out weighs the slight performance difference

  • 1 point

Where did you put your other two fans and why are the sizes a bit different? Really sick looking build tho

  • 1 point

thanks, glad u liked it. The case offers support for a 120mm in the back and a 140mm or 120mm on top. So i put a 120mm on the back and a 140mm on the top for most airflow. The other 2 fans are on my radiator in the front

  • 1 point

how would you rate the case ( im thinking about getting it to replace my cit f3 )

  • 1 point

9/10 i take off a point because there is not a lot of room in the basement for cables. the only reason i was able to fit my extra cable length in the basement is because i removed to hdd brackets. I have all ssds so i could remove it.

  • 1 point

Can you see the LED from the ML fans or is that just the RGB strip that lights the radiator area up? Im debating on the LED or non LED ML fans.

  • 1 point

it is the rgb strips that are lighting up the radiator side . You cant see the leds from the ML fans at all unless u are looking through the front intake holes on the left side of the case.

make sure the fan cables are not getting pinched in the back by the fan mounting plate. I thought my aio wasnt fitting in but really it was just my fan cables getting in the way. Route your fan cables first through the cut outs

Doesn't the CPU cooler comes with ML fans ? , If so why you have ML fans separately in parts list?

  • 1 point

the ml fans are suppose to perform better than the LL fans, i think they have more static pressure but im not sure. They preform the same as the LL fans. They are separate in the parts like because they are a different items and cant be grouped together

Very nice build! +1 -I know it's been awile since you've built this so maybe you'll still check your messages. I almost went with your case but ended up with the older Elite. How do you like the case, you still happy with it? You should check out my build as it is similar to yours. I do like yours a little better, especially cause of the custom backplates. I'm thinking of getting some from jmmods as well. Is that a cover over your radiator? Is that from jmmod as well?

  • 1 point

thanks, i am still really happy with the case. I dont have any major negatives to say about it. If i had to nit pick then i saw the dust filters are a bit annoying to clean. I would highly recommend jmmods over other companies like v1tech. It is cheaper while maintaining the same quality. The thing on the radiator is a cover i got from jmmods too, i think its meant to go on fans, but i used it as a radiator plate.

  • 1 point

what mouse are you using? If it is a wired corsair mouse, how does it do with the mouse pad, I am thinking of getting one for my wired RGB Sabre mouse. I ask about wired cause I heard one complaint that the mouse pad was only good with wireless mice.

  • 1 point

It is a logitech g502 mouse, i really dont understand what youre asking. If your asking about the quality of the mouse pad, it works just like a normal mouse pad and im sure any mouse will work it. I have the cloth version and its the same as any other mouse pad but with lights.

  • 1 point

since your reply, I managed to get a hold of one to try out. Like I thought it is more for wireless than hard wire (due to the usb port), but it does work pretty well.
