Description

This project was amazing and so fun. I'm personally a huge Overwatch player/junkie, so being able to help someone create a one of a kind Overwatch build was perfect. This build was for a buddy of mine who is only 17 years old and managed to save up enough money to get this beautiful piece of machinery and join the Master Race. He is going to be using this build clearly for Overwatch but also for College when he starts. He will be adding in 3.5" storage drives himself as I pre-wired the drive cages for him to expand for his need down the line.

Man this mod took some time! Stripping apart the entire case, sanding down, primer, paint, wet sand, gloss, wet sand... not happy with it and repeat until my OCD was satisfied. I will say having a vinyl cutter to make stencils is a HUGE help for projects like this! I ended up overall happy about the paint job and how all of teh parts turned out. My favorite part is probably the white STRIX 1070, man the possibilities for white themed builds using this monster. Really wish ASUS would make a version like this. Before starting the project I created a very rough design in photoshop, and it actually came out very close to it.

This machine was built and designed to play games at max settings in 1080P/1440P resolutions. We went with the i5 and 6600K for performance for price and overclocking headroom. This thing can really run games beautifully and much better than his previous LAPTOP he was using for gaming. He and I both are very excited for him to get this machine and be able to run whatever he wants with no limits.

For those of you wondering about the paint job/mod, anyone can do it. It just requires time, PATIENCE ( What you think will go wrong, probably will... but you can fix it and learn), and the correct tools. I'm very much into making each system unique and one of a kind so I encourage everyone to do the same and make it your dream PC!

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, It means a lot to myself and the new owner of this wonderful PC. You guys are the best PCPP community!

Personally, not a fan of the color orange, but this is a beautifully themed build. I wonder what I'd make my build if I was to make one like this, inspired by something for a theme... Probably Terraria cause it's awesome game, or Code Geass so I can have a build with a cape.

It's ameizing, +76 if I could.

Thanks a lot for working with me on this build man! It was really fun chatting with you and even playing a few matches of Overwatch with you. I can't wait to have this finally in my room and being able to play Battlefield 1, Dishonored 2, and of course Overwatch on Max settings!

Is there any kind of guide or video you could recommend about the process for disassembling and painting hardware? Particularly motherboard and GPU?

Did you paint the fans?

  • 1 point

Yes blades were painted orange to match the build

  • 1 point

Could you go further in depth on the methods/materials used to paint the fans? I'm considering trying it but I'm not quite sure about the risk v. reward. Also, have you noticed any limitations or issues that painting them causes when they are running? Thanks a ton.

  • 1 point

No problem at all. There's no been no issues at all. Just pop the blade out of the housing, make sure to tape off the back, primer, then paint, wet sand, and gloss. It's just paint so if you mess up it can always be redone.

Damn, lovely build. You inspire me with some ideas. But I have some questions :

  • How did you remove the propeller of the corsair silent fans for painting it ?
  • What paint you use for the graphics card ?
  • How do you have seperate the aluminimum front face of the plastics opened ventilations for painting it in orange ?

Thanks for your time ! (sorry for my English :$)

Thanks man!

  • you literally just push it out... There's tutorials on YouTube.

  • I just used rustoleum paint and a separate primer with lots of buffing and wet sanding

  • literally disassemble the entire motherboard. Use a heat fun to remove decal on heatsinks and paint.

No worries man
