Description

Ill keep it short and simple.

I finally finished school after 5 years of undergraduate/graduate where money was always tight and I constantly found myself on a budget. After graduation, I worked for 3 months in an unpaid internship doing 60 hours a week with 3 hours commuting each way and did not have time to do anything that I enjoyed for a full summer. I got very lucky and that internship moved into a full-time position with a consulting company that caps us at 40 hours a week and moved me to a location much closer to home.

My last few years of school I was running with my dell 17.3 notebook that was close to 8 years old at the time and needless to say could maybe run Microsoft word on low settings. I really wanted to move into a desktop as my work provided me with a laptop to use on the road and if needed.

With the help of many hours of researching, budgeting, checking, researching, and re-checking I was able to piece together this build for what I felt was a great price/performance with some room for upgradability.

I would like to thank everyone on this site as well as everyone that helped out on r/buildapc, r/buildapcsales and r/buildapcforme to help make this possible!

Note: currently taking suggestions for what to upgrade next.

The color scheme (alternating blue and purple) lights is reminiscent of my senior design project, where we built a custom liquid cooling loop attached to an aquarium. Likewise, I think the color theme warrants its own custom liquid loop.

If only I can commit to a colour scheme I’m sure I will rotate through many. Benefits of having all of the RGB. Ahah

What kind of rgb/led strip lights did you use?

It’s the case lighting with the NZXT H500i

Classy colors! How did you get the LED strip to do alternating blue and pink lights? Aura Sync?

CAM it’s what software is recommended by NZXT to control lighting, you can change the colour of each individual LED in the Case that way

Oh. So how did you connect it to the motherboard, then? Did you use an RGB header, or USB?

I believe it was through a USB

You plan to put that in an art museum? Because that's not a PC build. THAT'S ART.

I noticed you ended up putting the fans on the outside of the fan mounts at the front, did you find that temps were still okay?

Yeah I didn’t have issues, I moved them back inside the case. Liked the aesthetics more

Beautiful build might be copying everything about it.

What made you decide on the GPU?

Hey, this is my favorite build so far. One suggestion though: get a wraith spire rgb cooler. I got one on ebay for my 1600x and it cost like 15 euros. It'll look great in your pc!
