My first PC build!
A friend and I decided to upgrade from laptop gaming to desktop PC. In addition to gaming, we're also grad students using for productivity. Definitely overkill but I really like the future-proofness of this build.
The single biggest issue with this build was the NZXT CAM software! Once built, the PC would run fine but crash in games. First thought was the GPU, so replaced that. Same issue. Next, I noticed that the 12v rail was fluctuating quite a bit, so got a new power supply. Same issue. Turns out the CAM in-game stats overlay caused all the problems. What a headache...
The only issue now is figuring out why the CPU won't stay cool during Prime95 stress testing. With heavy gaming for 4 hours, it won't break 60 degrees. But after a few minutes of Prime95 stress testing, its over 80 and I stop the test. Any thoughts? I've already checked and verified Kraken x61 is working as it should.
Super fast, planning to try OC in future. Love it.
Once I figure out why this cant stay cool with the Kraken X61 under Prime95 stress test, I will OC.
2 Stars off because of massive issue with NZXT CAM software in-game overlay causing games to crash. Took me quite a while to figure out this was the issue.
As for cooling, this generally keeps CPU under 60 degrees C, but is unable to keep CPU from overheating during prime 95 stress testing. I stop testing once it hits 80 degrees, which takes 5 minutes or so.
I already verified the mounting, thermal paste, and pump functioning. Unclear why it can't cool this stress test.
Love the look and the BIOS. I picked this mobo because it was a semi-premium board with the right color scheme.
The breathing blue LED light effects are amazing
Easy to install, epic speed. Boots in under 4 seconds
Does the job.
Great card! Runs The Witcher 3 on Ultra settings 1440p at 70-80 FPS
Seriously amazing looking case. Cable management was easy on looks very polished. As others have mentioned, the plastic window is prone to fingerprints and scratch marks
Does what it needs to do, and is very quiet. The fan rarely goes on.
I bought a top of the line monitor thinking that if I was spending a lot of $$ on parts, I might as well be able to view a pretty picture.
Honestly the picture is absolutely incredible, but I think I could have saved a few hundred here.
