Description

This is my first solo build. A friend taught me how to build a PC a handful of years ago and I decided it was time for an upgrade. This was put together in May 2013 pre-Haswell and pre-Nvidia 700 series. (wished I waited for the 760.) I know that EVGA has a step up program but got busy with life and just forgot to upgrade.

The main purpose of this build is for gaming and I wanted to keep the budget under $1000. I plan on over-clocking but have not yet. In hindsight, I probably wouldnt have minded getting a 670 and breaking the budget but at the time I really didnt want to spend over the limit I set for myself. The optical drive and hard drives came from the previous build that my friend helped me do.

The prices listed are what I paid.

The only thing I actually didnt list is I paid $2 for a thin sheet of plexiglass to do a small window mod. I like the look of the Antec 1100. However, I did not want to put fans in the window and I didnt like the fan vents obstructing the view into my computer. So I bought a thin piece of plexiglass and cut it to fit. I think it turned out ok.

I like the color purple and I havent seen many PC builds with purple in their color scheme. So to be a little different I decided to go with a purple theme. I didnt really care for the purple sleeving. It was somewhat difficult to use because once you cut it it would fray and unravel. On top of that, they were not big enough to fit over all of the cables. If I were to do it again I would have bought colored extensions.

So here it is and I hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Solid on the purple. I'll be putting some purple fans in my upcoming build. Maybe we can make it a thing. World needs more purple-friendly parts.

Thanks, and you should definitely put purple fans in your build. We can start a new trend and say we were in on it at the start.

Agreed, there is a shortage a purple PC parts in the world.

Did you replace LEDs on the 200mm fan or did you completely replace the fan?

  • 1 point

neither. it is the stock fan. the fan has the blue LEDs in it and there is a switch on the case to turn them off or on. I have them turned off and i have LEDs on the window panel that light the inside.

Nice. My friend is purchasing this case from me, but wanted to change the color scheme and I was trying to get some ideas for him. Thanks!

I only bought 1 piece of plexiglass and was afraid i was going to cut incorrectly or scratch it. Im happy with the way it turned out.

How loud are these fans? I'm trying to decide between them and the purple corsair ones

I used 2 different fans in this build.

I used both the Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition 39.9 CFM 120mm and the Xigmatek CFS-SXGJS-PU2 61.4 CFM 120mm.

Both are quiet in my opinion. The both get drowned out my the 200mm case fan on top.

Corsair didnt have purple LED fans as an option when i built this. So I have no idea how they perform.

Hope this helped.

That's amazing! Love the purple theme. Oh and I was looking at this case. How far is the clearance on the top roughly. I want a h100i in Push/Pull.

I don't know off the top of my head what that clearance space is. I meant to check yesterday after I saw your message. I will try and remember today and get the information for you.

edit: I just checked and once you take out the top fan you have about 2" from the top of the case to the Motherboard.

Nice build.

Just wondering, and this is kinda a newb question, but does the case come with those nifty rubbery cord port things? My case just has big open holes, not those rubbery things you can fit the cords through.

Thanks.

The rubber liners in the cable management holes came standard with this case.
